My Playlist

I am very excited to share a couple different songs from my personal playlist and a couple songs that I researched and very much enjoyed. I took inspiration from multiple different places outside of America and I am very happy with the results that I found. I hope you enjoy.

First I will be sharing with you a special piece from my Reggae playlist called "Toast" by the one and only Koffee. I have shared another song of hers on a past blog but I could not help but share this one as well, as it is another one of my favorites from her. I would say that this song is a traditional and a modern form of Jamaican music as it was only released in 2022 it has plenty of modern aspects to it but it also has a very traditional tempo and vibe that goes with it. Koffee is one of my favorite Reggae artists and her songs always put me in a good mood which is why I want to share this with all of yall.

The next song that I am going to share with yall is a traditional New Zealand song by Corrella that is called "Blue eyed Maori". I am not sure what Maori means but a teammate of mine who is from New Zealand showed me this song a while ago and I immediately fell in love with it. The rhythm and the overall feelings that I get whenever I hear the song make it one of my all time favorites for this genre. I would consider this a very traditional song for the people of New Zealand and I hope that yall find it as wonderful as I do.

For this assignment I wanted to expand my horizons musically and as I was researching different songs I came across this wonderful piece of art from Colombia South America. The song is called "El Ritmo Que Nos Une" by Ryan Castro and SOG, I have no idea what the title means nor do I understand anything that is said in the song but I love the beat and the chorus too much not to put it in my blog. After listening to this modern form of music I put it on my playlist immediately and I will listen to it until I either get tired of it or I find another song that can top it.

For my final song that I wish to share with yall I wanted to find something from a place I have never heard music from and so I chose a traditional song from Ireland. I have never heard any songs from that part of the world and when I looked it up I found an old school Irish pub song called "Star of the County Down" by the Orthodox Celts. It is a lovely jig that captured my attention as soon as I started playing the song, I loved the rhythm of the song and how simple it is. I can definitely see why it is a top pub song till this day and will probably continue to be so.

I hope you enjoyed learning and hearing these kinds of music as much as I did and I hope yall can add a couple of these to your current playlist if you feel so inclined to do so.

  1. Hi stan, first of all I really enjoyed your blog. I really loved the song “star of the country down” by orthodox celts because the beat reminds me of the native American drumming but with a little twist of country. Good job!

  3. Hi Stan, like always, it is a pleasure for me to read your blog. I actually heard the Colombian song and even though I don’t listen to it in my daily basis, I think it is a good song with good rhythm, very interesting that you added that one. The other songs really good as well, Star Of The County Down also surprised me, and it was really good. As always, good job!

  4. Hey Stan, I really enjoyed reading your blog, it was a pleasure ! I totally agree with you about the Colombian song, I do not really understand what he is saying but I love the beat and I also have it in my playlist. I got to know it thanks to the team who was playing the music during the bus rides.
